SELMA – A motorist pulled over for speeding ended up going to jail after he reportedly tossed a crumpled up receipt out of the vehicle and onto the ground during a traffic stop. Inside the receipt, officers said they found four ecstasy pills.
On Jan. 13th at 9:33pm, a Johnston County deputy sheriff was on routine patrol on Highway 301 North of Selma. The deputy reportedly clocked a car speeding 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. The officer pulled over the vehicle on Hawkins Road just off Highway 301.
While the deputy was issuing the driver, 39 year-old Luke Kenta Hinton of N. Green Street, Selma, a speeding ticket, the officer noticed Hinton allegedly toss a crumpled up receipt out of his car. The deputy retrieved the receipt and allegedly found four ecstasy pills inside.
Hinton was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. He was given a $10,000 bond.
