Two jailors in the Johnston County Jail were injured after being assaulted by an inmate.
The inmate, Altriek Ja-had Hurst, 24, of Grovewood Drive, Clayton had been in custody since September after his arrest by Smithfield Police for resisting arrest and assault on a government official.
Around 11:30am Thursday, Hurst reportedly struck the two officers in the face with his fist. One officer required medical attention.
Hurst was charged with two felony counts of assault on a detention employee causing serious injury. His bond was increased by $150,000 from $3,500 to $153,500.
