JCPS Will Return To Plan A On April 12th

Following a special called meeting Monday afternoon, the Johnston County school board voted unanimously to move to Plan A effective Monday, April 12th. The recommendation was made by Superintendent Dr. Eric Bracy.

Beginning April 12th, grades 6-12 will attend school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and work remotely on Wednesday to allow for sanitizing and deep cleaning classrooms.

Additionally, the board voted to change Wednesday, March 31st to a student day for PreK-5 students and 6-12 Cohort B students. Also, the board agreed to a request by Dr. Bracy to change Thursday, April 1st to a Remote Learning Day for all JCPS students.

Board member Kay Carroll said parents have asked the school board to have a stable schedule, one that is as consistent as possible. Mr. Carroll said he wants to keep the schedule as simple as possible for staff, students and parents. He also said the safety of staff and students continues to be important.

Board member Lyn Andrews asked Dr. Bracy if he had been in communication with principals about Plan A. Dr. Bracy said he would be meeting with principals on Tuesday to discuss the plan.

Under the adopted plan, virtual instruction continues to be an option. .

Under Plan A, students and staff will see some changes to safety protocols. Wellness checks and mask-wearing will continue to be required safety measures. Six feet spacing is no longer required in classrooms. On buses, the one student per seat limit has been lifted. JCPS will still be required to do contact tracing on any individual who was within 6 feet of a COVID infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more. They must be reported to the Johnston County Health Department and quarantine for 10 days.

Parents will be contacted by Wednesday, March 24 by their school with specific instructions and additional information.

    IF THEY’RE GONNA BE ABLE TO INTERACT AND PLAY WITH EACH OTHER AT SCHOOL THEN THIS VIRTUAL ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK IS NOTHING BUT CRAP OR BUSY WORK….AND WHATS UP WITH THIS (When the weather is to bad to go to school (this to me means a day without school) there won’t be any VIRTUAL EITHER…..COME ON PEOPLE WHAT WOULD WE HAVE DONE FOR A SNOW ❄️ DAY (MAKE OUR KIDS STAY IN AND DO ALL OF THIS ONLINE WORK THATS EXSPECTED TO ALL BE DONE AT HOME IN ONE DAY (BUT THEY CAN’T DO IT AT SCHOOL IN ONE DAY 🧐) I’M NOT GONNA TAKE AWAY RIGHTS OF BEING A KID JUST BECAUSE THIS WORLD HAS GONE BAT 🦇 CRAP 💩 CRAZY
