A Clayton man has been charged with fleeing from a traffic stop with a Johnston County deputy then leading the officer on a chase in excess of 90 miles per hour. On May 20th around 3:00pm, a SAFE Team deputy stopped a car on Old Yogi Lane for speeding. The driver was reportedly uncooperative with the officer during the traffic stop and when asked to exit the vehicle sped away.
A brief chase ensued until the deputy lost sight of the suspect’s Dodge Charger. However, officers were able to identify the driver based on information obtained during the initial vehicle stop.
On May 24th, Dominic Juwan Williams, 23, of Falling Creek Court, Clayton turned himself in at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
Williams was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving and resisting a public officer. He was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.
