A motorist clocked speeding on Highway 70 in Johnston County reportedly failed to pull over for officers Wednesday afternoon.
A SAFE Team deputy with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol around 5:00pmwhen he spotted a black Ford passenger car speeding on US 70 near Princeton. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver allegedly failed to pull over for a blue light and siren.
The short chase entered the Princeton city limits where the driver stopped his car on Barden Street at Dr. Donnie H. Jones Boulevard.
John Leonard Jarman, 47, of Whaley Road, Kinston was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, driving while impaired, reckless driving and speeding. Authorities said Jarman registered 0.12 on the Breathalyzer, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 in NC.
Jarman was released on a $2,500 bond. Officers seized his vehicle.
