BENSON – A manager at a Clayton-area grocery store was arrested at work Thursday night on two dozen felony warrants. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Byron Bond, 57, of Beasley Road, Benson, following an investigation reportedly involving four victims.
On October 24th, an adult female victim reported to the sheriff’s office she had been sexually assaulted by Bond. During their investigation, detectives allegedly determined there were three additional victims, all juvenile girls. The alleged assaults occurred over the past two years, including at least one recent assault, authorities said Friday. Authorities did not say where the alleged assaults took place.
Bond was arrested Thursday night while at work. He was served with 24 arrest warrants, including 19 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, two counts of attempted first-degree forcible sex offense, two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and one count of second-degree forcible sex offense.
Friday afternoon, detectives executed a search warrant at Mr. Bond’s residence in the Meadow community. He remains in the Johnston County Jail under a $5 million secured bond.
