JoCoReport Viewer Help Solve Car Break-Ins

Thanks to tip from a viewer the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has solved three car break-ins in the Archer Lodge area.

On November 21, 2018, three cars parked on Bridgeport Circle off Covered Bridge Road were broken into.  Three winning NC Education lottery tickets were among the items taken from one of the cars.

The suspect took the 3 winning tickets to a convenience store to cash them in.  A surveillance image of the unidentified suspect and the vehicle he was driving were posted on the JoCoReport website in December and within 24 hours a viewer contacted Smithfield Police after spotting the vehicle in Smithfield.  The truck was located and the occupants questioned by police and deputies.  It turns out the owner of the truck had loaned the vehicle to the suspect and was unaware of the crimes.

On Jan. 12th, Charles Bryan Stocks, 34, of the 4300 block of Covered Bridge Road, Clayton was located and taken into custody on multiple outstanding warrants including breaking and entering motor vehicles, larceny, and obtaining property by false pretense.

Authorities thanked the public for their assistance in solving the case.
