A Johnston County man is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after authorities said he beat his dog.
The alleged animal cruelty was captured on video and turned over to authorities on April 15. The incident reportedly occurred about a week earlier, around April 7.
Bert Jean, age 54, of Garner (a Johnston County address) is accused of striking his 4 year-old female pitbull name Blue numerous times with an object. That object, officers said, appears to be a belt.
On April, 17, Jean was formally charged by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, after investigators reportedly obtained a copy of the video.
Blue was seized by animal control. Her injuries were not serious.
Bert Jean was released on a $30,000 secured bond.
