SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2023 in the Superior Courtroom at the Johnston County Courthouse in Smithfield at 11:00 a.m.
The event will feature keynote speaker (Retired) U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant Stan Jones. A veteran of the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, Mr. Jones is now a local business owner and a pastor after serving our country for over 20 years.
“On Memorial Day we honor and pay tribute to the many men and women who freely gave all, so that unknown generations of Americans could forever live freely,” said Director of Veterans Services Robert Boyette.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony and the event will also be livestreamed on the County’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/jocogovnc. All veterans are encouraged to take part in the Memorial Day Ceremony or join the event virtually as we pause to remember those who have died while serving in our nation’s military.
