Johnston Health Honors Cath Lab Nurse As Ambassador Of The Month

Cathy Ennis, a nurse who works in the cath lab, has been named the Johnston Health Ambassador of the Month.

During a recent presentation, CEO Chuck Elliott said Ennis is a kind and caring nurse who works well with physicians and coworkers to get procedures done, and in a department that’s often fast-paced and sometimes stressful.

“She has a positive outlook that rubs off on coworkers and patients,” he says. “She strives for excellence in everything she does.”

Ennis grew up in Smithfield and has worked with Johnston Health for about 13 years. She started out as a personal trainer at HealthQuest Fitness and Wellness Center before joining the cardiopulmonary rehab staff as an exercise specialist.

She was so fascinated by the relationship between exercise and the heart that she decided to return to school to become a nurse.  After earning her degree, she gained experience as a nurse in the emergency department in Smithfield before accepting her current job in the cath lab.

“Every day is an opportunity to learn,” she says. “We have a great staff and physicians. We’re gifted in different ways, and it all comes together and works well.”

Through the ambassador program, Johnston Health recognizes employees who go above and beyond the call of duty. They deliver quality care, foster teamwork and offer excellent service.

In addition to a designated month-long parking space, Ennis will receive eight hours of paid time off.

She and her husband, Lance, live in Bunn where he owns and operates a grading business.
