A Kenly woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly lying to police.
Around 7:15am, Smithfield Police said they responded to a location off S. Equity Drive where 24 year-old Carla Alina Jones reported that she had been assaulted. Officers said Jones initially gave them a fictitious name and date of birth.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said officers at the scene determined Jones had giving them fictitious information including a false report of an assault. Jones was charged with filing a false report and resisting a public officer. She was released on a $600 bond pending a June 28th court appearance.
