Kenly Woman Accused Of Stealing Car From 85 Year-Old

A car stolen from the home of an 85 year-old Kenly area resident was recovered Saturday a few hours after it was reported missing.

Johnston County deputies said they received a report from the 85 year-old victim their Ford passenger car had been stolen from the driveway of their home off Highway 222 West near Highway 42 in the Stancil’s Chapel community.

Deputies later found the vehicle abandoned in a parking lot on Old Beulah Road.

Amber Leigh Capps, 29, of the 1100 block of Highway 222 West, Kenly was arrested Saturday and charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle.  Deputies said Capps was acquainted with the victim.

The car was recovered and returned to the owner without any damages.
