A Clayton man has been arrested for allegedly stealing items from a Johnston County business.
On Sunday, February 7th around 3:30pm, the suspect is captured on surveillance cameras at Byrd’s Wholesale at 3777 Highway 70 Business, near Swift Creek Road.
The man exits a Chevrolet Corvette, allegedly breaks into a storage barn, then leaves with three stolen power tools. The tools were valued at $400.
With the help of the camera video, Johnston County sheriff’s detectives were able to identify the suspect as 62 year-old Donald Ray Rushin of Raintree Drive, Clayton. Rushin was arrested Feb. 10th and charged with breaking and entering, and larceny.
Rushin was confined in the Johnston County Jail on a $75,000 secured bond.
An employee at Byrd’s Wholesale said there had been two prior thefts of power tools from the business. Authorities have not said if the prior incidents could be connected.
