Large Indoor Marijuana Growing Operation Busted

A large indoor marijuana growing operation was busted Thursday by deputies and narcotics officers with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said they responded to a disturbance call in the 500 block of Red House Road, off Steven’s Chapel Road in the Brogden community.  While at the home officers developed information of possible illegal activity at the address.

Narcotics officers obtained a search warrant for the premises and located in excess of 50 marijuana plants and marijuana in individual packages.

Charles Christopher Braswell, 45, and Jennifer Lynn Whitman, 38, both of Red House Road, Smithfield were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana.

Braswell was also charged with assault and assault by strangulation for the domestic disturbance incident.  He was placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $270,000 bond. Whitman was held under a $70,000 bond.

    Why on earth would you call the police to your house if you had a major marijuana grow operation in that house? And why on earth would you beat your wife if you knew that it was going to lead to a drug trafficking sentence? Almost too dumb to breathe.

      I was thinking the same exact thing. If there were a charge for doing something completely stupid, they would have been arrested for that as well!

      I was thinking the same exact thing. If there were a charge for doing something completely stupid, they would have been arrested for that as well!
