A large quantity of drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash was seized from a southern Johnston County home this week.
Following a joint investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and NC Alcohol Law Enforcement, agents raided a home late-Tuesday on Oak Lane, off Highway 96 South in the Meadow community, seizing 17 pounds of marijuana and 89 grams of crack cocaine. If the illegal drugs had reached the streets of Johnston County, they would have had a potential street value of $34,400 for the accused drug traffickers.
Barbara Kelly Rose, 70, of Oak Lane, Dunn and Lecister George Thomas, 43, of Clermont, Florida were arrested during the drug raid.
Both suspects are charged with drug trafficking. Rose is also charged with maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance.
Rose was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $300,000 bond. Thomas was held under a $150,000 bond.
