Law Enforcement Officers Searching For Armed And Dangerous Man

A wanted man eluded a manhunt Monday afternoon in rural Wayne County.  Ricky Terrell Ward, 33, was spotted in a wooded area yesterday but officers who responded to search for him said he got away.

Ward is wanted for questioning in Sunday night’s murder of 35 year-old David Demarlo Thompson who was found shot to death in the back yard of his home in Dudley. Authorities said he is a possible suspect in the slaying.

Ward was also driving a stolen car he crashed on March 27th during a chase with Wayne County deputies. The car belonged to Justice Courtney Lyons, 22, who had been reported missing to the Raleigh Police Department 8 days before Ward was spotted in the victims stolen vehicle.

Goldsboro Police have obtained warrants against Ward for trying to rob a couple in the parking lot of the Speedway on US 70 West on March 27th. During the attempted robbery a gunshot was fired but the couple was not hit.

Ward is described as a tall, slender black male with a mustache and goatee.  He has a tattoo over his right eye and teardrop tattoos under his eyes. He was last seen on Mondaywearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.

Authorities said Ward should be considered armed and dangerous. If a member of the public spots him, they should not approach Ward, but call 911.
