Liberty Commons Annual Angel Tree Hopes To Brighten Holidays For Seniors

BENSON – Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Johnston County is kicking off their annual Angel Tree program in hopes of brightening the holidays for the seniors staying in their skilled nursing facility.

The holidays can be a challenging time for some residents who are far away from loved ones or who don’t have a support system of family and friends. That is why Liberty Commons is encouraging the community to pick one of the 100 ‘angels’ off their Angel Tree Garland in hopes of bringing them a little holiday cheer.

“Our local community is so generous and giving. It really is incredible to see our community come together to bless our residents,” said Marketing and Admissions Coordinator Kristy Knowles. “Most of our residents, like many of us, want to be home for the holidays. However, our residents, clinically, are not able to return home, so our Angel Tree offers a little blessing during the holidays.”

Each ornament lists a senior’s Christmas Wish List. Many residents ask for necessities like socks, robes or shoes. Some also request their favorite sweet treats.

Liberty Commons welcomes donors to visit the facility to pick an angel. Liberty Commons follows all CDC requirements for visitors. You can also select an angel over the phone by calling Kristy Knowles at (919) 830-0840 or by emailing her at

After choosing an angel, donors are asked to bring their wrapped gift with their angel’s ornament attached to the gift to the facility no later than December 15. Donations can be dropped off at 2315 Highway 242 North in Benson, North Carolina.
