BENSON – A limousine driver was jailed on a $245,000 bond following his arrest. A narcotics detective with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office stopped a Lincoln limousine on Highway 301 just north of Benson on Aug. 1st.
The driver, Michael Anthony Campbell, 53, of Raleigh, reportedly refused to allow deputies search the vehicle. A law enforcement K-9 responded to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. During a search, oxycodone and diazapam were reportedly found concealed inside the limo.
Campbell, who is currently on probation on prescription pill sale charges in Wake County, was charged with three counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver a controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.
