Officers stopped a car and cited the driver for having an expired license plate and for driving on a revoked license.
During the traffic stop, deputies detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A passenger, 21 year-old John Wesley Pettiway III of Crystal Boulevard, was reportedly found to have a loaded 9mm handgun in his pocket. During a further search, 5 grams of marijuana and 10 Xanax bars were allegedly found in his possession.
Pettiway was charged with two counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a controlled substance, one count of carrying a concealed gun, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
