SELMA – Police arrested a 44 year-old man on three criminal charges after he allegedly failed to pay for food at a restaurant then went to a nearby store and started eating a honey bun.
On August 19th at 3:47am, Selma Police were dispatched to the Waffle House on Outlet Center Drive. Employees reported a man ate then left without paying for the $9.75 meal. Police located the suspect nearby inside the Handee Hugo convenience store where he had allegedly just opened a honey bun and soft drink and began consuming the items without paying the $3.97 cost. He reportedly told the store clerk someone was on the way to the store to pay for the items, but no one ever did. Altogether, the stolen food from the two businesses was valued at $13.72.
While taking Adam Thomas Ormond of the 6300 block of Buffalo Road, Selma into custody on charges of defrauding an innkeeper and larceny, a half gram of suspected methamphetamine was located in his pocket.
Ormond was subsequently charged with felony meth possession. He was held on a $65,000 secured bond.
