A Raleigh man was arrested at a Johnston County hotel after he allegedly paid to have sex with two girls ages 10 and 12.
WTSB News has learned the incident unfolded last Thursday.
Jay Lawrence Bobinski, 58, of Capital Boulevard, Raleigh reportedly communicated on the internet using an online personal ad service and arranged to meet with what he believed to be two children, ages 10 and 12, to engage in sexual acts. He also arranged to pay for the sex.
Bobinski did not realize he was communicating with an undercover SBI agent over the internet.
When he arrived at an undisclosed Johnston County hotel, he reportedly provided payment. He was immediately taken into custody.
Bobinski was charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor, two counts of attempted first degree statutory sex offense, and felony conspiracy. He was taken before a Johnston County magistrate who set his bail at $600,000.
The NC SBI said the suspect also brought items to be used for the sexual encounter with the minors.
