A 49 year-old man was arrested at the Interstate 40 Rest Stop near Benson on Saturday night.
Johnston County deputies were called to the westbound rest area for a domestic incident involving a man and a woman. Officers arrived to find the female locked inside a bathroom and the male standing nearby. Authorities allege Ulysses Xavier Thompson of Fayetteville had prescription pills in his pockets and inside his vehicle. Suspected drug paraphernalia was also located.
Officers said they seized Oxycodone and Xanax pills from Thompson. While being processed, deputies said they determined Thompson was wanted on a warrant from New Hanover County for failing to appear in court for a speeding charge.
Thompson was charged with two counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a controlled substance, one felony count of maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with a misdemeanor order for arrest for failure to appear for speeding. Thompson was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
