Man Arrested For Allegedly Selling Car He Didn’t Own

CLAYTON – A Clayton family won’t be getting their car back after it was stolen then sold to a recycling facility. Before authorities could locate the car it had been crushed.

Isaiah Kaine Shorten, 22, of McLemore Road, Clayton was arrested June 9. He was served with a warrant charging him with two felony offenses: larceny of a motor vehicle and obtaining property by false pretense.

Shorten allegedly stole a 2002 Buick LeSabre, owned by a family member, from an address on Blount Creek Drive then sold the car to an area recycling company.

Shorten was paid $300 for the vehicle.

Shorten was held under a $10,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.

  1. How? You’re supposed to have the title at the scrap yard. Every one i go to is strict about things like that.
