Man Caught Shoplifting Exposes Himself To Store Employees

A Pinetops couple was arrested by Clayton Police for shoplifting from Walmart, possessing counterfeit money, possessing crack and crack pipes and exposing genitals in public.

44 year-old Jeffrey Lawrence and 41-year-old Tanya Marie Lawrence were in the Clayton Walmart on Saturday, January 18 when store Loss Prevention personnel spotted the couple acting strangely in the self-checkout. They had noticed the couple was not scanning items. They also discovered that Mr. Lawrence had a bottle of body lotion stuffed in the front of his pants. When confronted, Lawrence lifted his shirt and pulled his pants forward, exposing his genitals to the two Loss Prevention personnel. Also discovered stolen were a 12-count pack of condoms, a 38-count box of feminine pads, a drone, scented wax melts, two lipsticks, concealer and re-usable Walmart shopping bags.

A search of their car uncovered approximately 0.1 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, one glass crack pipe, one metal crack pipe, six counterfeit $100 bills and a Walmart credit card belonging to a person other than the Lawrence couple.

Mr. Lawrence was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor indecent exposure. Mrs. Lawrence was charged with the following Forgery of Instrument, Felony Possession of Scheduled II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Larceny and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mrs. Lawrence was also served eight outstanding order for arrests for failure to appear in multiple criminal cases out of Pitt County.
