Man Charged With Embezzling Over $100,000 From 91 Year-Old Victim

KENLY – An investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of a Kenly man on embezzlement and exploitation charges.

Robert Alan Moore, age 64, of Scott Road was arrested September 26 following a three month investigation.

Authorities allege Moore stole more than $100,000 from a 91 year-old Kenly man. Over a period of approximately two years, Moore allegedly stole funds from the victim’s bank account.

After investigating the incident, and consulting with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office, detectives charged Moore with felonious embezzlement and felonious exploitation of disable/elder trust. Moore was held on a $50,000 secured bond.

  1. Why isn’t his bond higher than what he stole? This makes ZERO sense, for real. Help me out…..I am so confused now!

  2. Lamont……Thank you for your answer. It just seems like the guy could use half of what he stole to get out on bond and go on a spending spree with the other $50,000 before the trial. I would think the bond, in any case, should be double what they steal. That’s just how little nobody me sees it anyway. God Bless!
