A Clayton man is in custody and the search continues for a second person wanted for a home invasion at an Archer Lodge area home Thursday night.
Around 10:45pm, a couple and their teenage son were at their home on Ottawa Drive when two people attempted to break in. The man and his son gave chase while the wife called 911.
Johnston County deputies arrived on the scene and located 25 year-old Hector Conteras Ventura near the scene. He was identified as one of the two suspects. A sheriff’s K-9 was brought to the scene but lost the trail for the second burglary suspect.
Ventura, who has a N. O’Neil Street address, was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and felony conspiracy. At the time of his arrest Ventura was wanted for failing to appear in court on four offenses including speeding, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a revoked license.
Ventura was jailed under a $75,000 bond for the burglary. He was given an additional $2,250 bond on the failure to appear offenses.
Detectives are still working to identify the second suspect. Anyone who may have any information is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
