Man Charged With Stabbing Girlfriend

A Meadow-area resident was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend several times with a knife during a domestic dispute a day earlier.

Samuel Thomas Gordon, 29, of Brock Road, Dunn was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, communicating threats, and interfering with emergency communications.

Around 9:15pm Wednesday, Johnston County deputies responded to the address after the 31 year-old victim reported that Gordon had threatened to kill her, then pulled out a knife and began to stab her.  When she tried to dial 911 with her cell phone he reportedly tried to take the phone away.

The woman was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Gordon was not injured but he was transported to the hospital Wednesday night for evaluation. He was arrested Thursday when he was released.

Authorities said alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor.
