Man Dropped Off At Hospital With Gunshot Wound

CLAYTON – Clayton Police are investigating a weekend shooting. Saturday night, Javarian Omar Hogan, 22, of Clayton showed up at Johnston Medical Center in Clayton with a gunshot wound to his back. Hogan was stabilized then transferred to WakeMed for additional medical treatment.

Around 10:45pm Saturday, police conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle operating recklessly on Highway 42 West. They determined the driver, Jordan Huffin, was the person who had previously dropped Hogan off at Johnston Medical Center. Police said Hogan and the driver have provided only limited details about what occurred.

On Monday, Police Chief Greg Tart said detectives determined the shooting likely occurred in the 400 block of South Smith Street. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Clayton Police Department at 919-553-4611. Callers may remain anonymous.
