CLAYTON – Johnston County deputies responded to a convenience store Sunday night after a man arrived in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Deputies located the 37 year-old Clayton man inside a vehicle at the Circle K on Highway 42 West near Old Drug Store Road around 11:30pm.
The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed by Johnston County EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
Sheriff’s investigators said Monday the victim was shot at another location then driven to the Circle K where help was summoned. Authorities believe the shooting happened nearby but have not released the exact location.
The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
