Johnston County deputies said they seized approximately 3 ounces of marijuana and a concealed 9mm handgun from a car during a traffic stop on Old Highway 70 West at Shotwell Road in Clayton.
Around 9:24pm Saturday, a deputy stopped a Kia for an expired license plate. The driver, 24 year-old J’Mario I’Man Carter of Clayton, allegedly admitted to having marijuana in his vehicle. When the deputy asked him to step out of his vehicle, the officer spotted a handgun in the door pocket not previously visible.
During a search of the car, about 3.1 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Officers said some of the marijuana had been placed in vacuum sealed bags.
Carter was given a $7,500 bond on two felony and two misdemeanor charges including carrying a concealed gun and possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance.
