Two license checkpoints last week resulted in the arrests of two people on methamphetamine possession charges.
On Tuesday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office SAFE Team was conducting a checkpoint on Crantock Road near Smithfield. Deputies said they found suspected methamphetamine concealed inside a cigarette pack in the possession of 38 year-old Nathan Ray Stanley of Courtly Street, Four Oaks.
Stanley was arrested at the scene and charged with felony meth possession and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
Thursday afternoon, SAFE Team deputies were conducting a checkpoint on Shaw’s Pond Road outside of Four Oaks and arrested 48 year-old Nicky Ray Barefoot of Meadowbrook Road, Benson after a small amount of suspected methamphetamine was found on the floorboard of the car he was operating.
Barefoot was charged with felony meth possession. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail and held under a $5,000 bond.
