Methamphetamines Valued At $10,800, Stolen Firearm Seized During Vehicle Stop

GARNER – A quantity of methamphetamines, stolen 9mm handgun and cash were seized from a car during a traffic stop Friday night on Highway 42 West near Interstate 40 in Johnston County.

Johnston County deputies said they located methamphetamines with a potential street value of $10,800 inside the vehicle.  A small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was also located and seized.  The amount of cash seized from the suspects was not disclosed.

Jose Carlos Yanez-Garcia, 29, of Peyton Street, Raleigh and Blanca Nayeli Rodriguez, 22, of S. Hardee Street, Durham were arrested on methamphetamine trafficking charges.  Rodriguez was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

Both suspects are being held on a $1 million bond in the Johnston County Jail.

In August, Yanez-Garcia was arrested by Clayton Police after witnesses said they saw someone stealing shingles from a new home construction site off Covered Bridge Road and O’Neil Streets.   The stolen shingles were located by police during a traffic stop.
