A man wanted on felony charges in Durham County and listed as a missing person in Harnett County was arrested Saturday night near Smithfield. Johnston County deputies responded to a call from a citizen around 10:30pm reporting a suspicious person in the 1500 block of Brogden Road.
Deputies arrived and located the individual who reportedly gave officers a fictitious name. He attempted to leave the scene but was detained and charged with resisting arrest. After being fingerprinted at the Johnston County Jail, deputies determined the individual was 38 year-old Michael Anthony Tart of Lauren Lane, Princeton.
Tart was wanted by Durham County authorities on warrants for failing to register as a sex offender and failure to appear in court. He was also listed as a missing person in Harnett County.
Johnston County deputies charged Tart with resisting a public officer and identity theft. He was also served with a warrant for felony parole violation.
Tart was held without bond on the parole violation warrant plus an additional $250,000 bond on the other charges.
