Mom Beats Child Because Of Unclean Room, JCSO Says

A Johnston County mother is facing felony charges for allegedly assaulting and choking her 15 year-old child.

Johnston County deputies said the incident occurred February 8th at a home near Four Oaks.

The teenager told authorities she was in bed when her mother entered her room and became angry over the room not being clean as her mother wanted. The mother then reportedly tried to take her daughter’s phone away.

Deputies allege the mother, Bree Nicole Slaughter, 38, of Duchess Drive, Garner got on top of her daughter and began choking her. The child sustained a black eye, bruises and scratches on her neck, abdomen, and back.

During questioning, Slaughter allegedly admitted to putting her daughter in a choke hold and probably going too far.

Slaughter was charged with felony assault by strangulation and felony intentional child abuse causing serious physical injury.

Slaughter was arrested Feb. 12th and held under an $85,000 secured bond.

The Johnston County Department of Social Services is assisting with the investigation.
