Mother Accused Of Child Abuse Claims Injuries Caused By Dog

A Clayton woman has been arrested on felony child abuse charges. Morgan Stough was arrested August 24th by Clayton Police on outstanding Harnett County Sheriff’s Office warrants and confined in the Johnston County Jail. She was later transferred to the Harnett County Jail.

On May 21, 2021 the Harnett County Department of Social Services notified the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office of a child being injured. Stough is the 23 year-old mother of the 3 month old who was injured. Authorities said the baby had four broken ribs in different stages of healing. Two were more recent injuries.

The child was treated and released at Wake Med before being released into the custody of the Department of Social Services.

Following an investigation by Harnett County sheriff’s detectives, Stough was charged with two counts of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury. Stough reportedly claimed the injuries were caused by the family dog.

  1. THREE MONTHS OLD?!?!? FOUR BROKEN RIBS?!? A baby’s bones are practically rubber at that age!! This sorry piece of sh-t mother had to hit HARD to break an innocent baby’s ribs!!

  2. I’ll never understand how a mother can hurt her own child or any other child for that matter. To be in different stages of healing she had to of broke them at different times 😠 I hope they get her a** in jail.
