Mother Accused Of Driving Drunk With Child In Car

A 30 year-old mother was arrested around 10:00pm Saturday – about two hours before Mother’s Day Sunday – for allegedly driving drunk with her child in her vehicle.

Smithfield Police conducted a traffic stop on Brightleaf Boulevard near Market Street and arrested the driver, Brittany Lasha Toler of Raleigh for impaired driving. Police said Toler registered 0.12 on the Breathalyzer, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 in North Carolina.

Officers said Ms. Toler had her young daughter in the car with her at the time.  The age of the girl was not disclosed but police said she was turned over to a guardian.

Toler was taken to jail and charged with driving while impaired and child abuse.  Toler was released on a $1,500 bond pending a June 14th court appearance.
