Mother Accused Of Helping Son Elude Arrest

BENSON – The mother of a suspect arrested on attempted murder charges is now facing serious criminal charges. Jeri Adams Lassiter, 53, of Faith Church Road, Four Oaks was arrested September 28th and charged with accessory after the fact. 

Her son, Joshua David Lassiter, 26, also of Faith Church Road, Four Oaks was arrested September 12th on an attempted murder warrant from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 10th around 2:35am, Joshua Lassiter allegedly argued with his girlfriend as they sat in the cab of a pickup truck on West Watson Road, Benson.  When the 46 year-old woman tried to open the passenger door and exit the truck, Joshua Lassiter allegedly shot her in the shoulder.  The victim fell to the ground. As he sped away in the truck, he reportedly ran over her ankle. 

Joshua Lassiter was arrested two days after the incident in Harnett County.  He was returned to Johnston County and confined in the Johnston County Jail initially without bond. His bond was later reduced to $350,000 but at last report he was still incarcerated.   

Investigators allege Jeri Lassiter assisted her son elude arrest and conceal evidence.  She was held on a $150,000 bond following her Sept. 28th arrest.
