A motorist arrested for suspected drunk driving near Pine Level reportedly had two small children inside his vehicle when he was pulled over.
A Johnston County deputy sheriff stopped a car at 12:17am Sunday on US 70-A for a traffic violation. The driver, Jose Santos Argueta, 35, of S. Webb Street, Selma, reportedly told officers he had consumed two beers before driving.
Two children were found inside the car. They were not properly restrained in their car seats, officers noted. The ages of the children and their relationship to Argueta were not disclosed.
Argueta registered 0.08 on the Breathalyzer. He was charged with driving while impaired and misdemeanor child abuse. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
