Narcotics Tossed From Car During High Speed Chase, Police Say

WILSON’S MILLS – The Wilson’s Mills Police Department arrested two people Sunday after a routine traffic stop turned into a high speed chase.

Officers said they stopped Gerardo Rangel Pasillas, age 22, of Selma on Highway 70 West for an issue with his license plate. As the officer was talking with Pasillas about an odor of marijuana coming from his car, the driver sped away.

Policed chased Pasillas about five miles down Wilson’s Mills Road until the vehicle was eventually stopped on Gordon Road.

During the chase, Police Chief A.Z. Williams said, a passenger, Jelan Jetoi Miller, age 22, of Raleigh, threw a bag out of the car window. The bag was recovered. Inside, police reportedly found eight smaller bags of marijuana and one jar of marijuana.
Another bag was found in the car containing nearly $3,000 cash.

Miller was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana and given a $10,000 secured bond. Pasillas was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana. He was held on an $80,000 secured bond.
