An arrest was made Sunday afternoon a short time after a break-in was discovered at a Clayton-area church.
Around 5:00pm, Pastor Patricia Barfield reported that someone had broken into Hephzibah Tabernacle located at 6015 Applewhite Road. The suspect used a cinder block to break open a rear window to gain entry to the church. Once inside, the suspect stole a backpack and a basketball from inside the church.
Sunday night, a neighbor, 26 year-old Michael Jay Bridges of 6035 Applewhite Road was arrested and charged with two felony breaking and entering a place of worship and felony larceny.
The stolen items were returned to the church. Bridges was later released on a $3,000 bond.
