Neighbor Used Hidden Key To Break Into Home, JCSO Says

NEWTON GROVE – A Johnston County man has been charged with breaking into his neighbor’s home while they were away by using a house key the victim kept hidden outside.

Tristan Lee Parker, 23, of Thornton Road, Newton Grove, a Johnston County address, was arrested February 3rd by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Parker was charged with second degree burglary, larceny of a firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm.

On January 28, 2022, the 79 year-old victim reported a handgun was missing from his bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry into the home.

Deputies allege Parker knew where the hidden key was located. Parker reportedly denied taking the key or entering the victim’s home, however the stolen handgun was found in a storage shed behind the suspect’s residence.

Parker was held on a $30,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail. The stolen gun was recovered.
