Pauline Anderson Shiflett, age 84, of Smithfield passed away on August 13, 2018. Born in Johnston County on December 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lonzo Velbert and Penny Strickland Anderson. Mrs. Shiflett was also preceded in death by her husband Linwood Shiflett and brothers L.V. Anderson, Jr., Howard Anderson, Bruce Anderson, Bobby Anderson, Billy Anderson and Benjamin Anderson. She owned and operated the “Little Brown Jug” in Smithfield from 1972-1995 and also worked at J.R.’s in Selma. She attended Smithfield Church of God.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 15, at 7 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Jerry Waters officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM just prior to the service. Burial will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.
Surviving are her son, Linwood Brian “Tom” Shiflett and wife Rita of Selma; daughters, Carolyn Capps Woodard and husband Donald, Kathy Capps Jernigan, both of Smithfield; brother Kenneth Anderson and wife Barbara of Smithfield; sister Jo Ann Wellons of Goldsboro; grandchildren Coty Brian Shiflett, Shirley Woodard Polk and husband Joseph, Andy Ray Jernigan and wife Elizabeth, Dawn Woodard McDonald and husband Jack, and Randy Jernigan; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
