Samuel “Sammy” Roland Parrish Jr., passed away after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and doting sisters. After finishing his service in the US Army, Sammy came home to Johnston County. He was a home town boy and totally devoted to his mother and his mother in-law until their deaths. He owned and operated a car lot and enjoyed his contact with the public. He never met a stranger. He loved to make a deal and to give someone a deal. If someone needed a favor, errand run or just a friend to lend an ear he was always there. After his retirement he was always buying, selling or trading anything from golf cars to trucks. He enjoyed everything in its place, his yard, the house, the barn and most of all his trucks. His trademark was starched khaki shorts, usually he considered that the uniform. He enjoyed life. When diagnosed with cancer he took it with stride and said “carry on” and he did.
