Tanner George Mercier

Tanner George Mercier, 19, of Wilmington, North Carolina, son of Catherine Richert and the late George Mercier, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022. Tanner was born at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts.

In addition to his father, George Mercier, Tanner is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents George and Lorraine Mayer, his paternal grandfather Maurice Mercier, and uncles John Biagiotti and Scott Bomia.

Tanner is survived by his mother and stepfather, Catherine and Andy Richert of Princeton, North Carolina. He is also survived by sisters Heather and husband DJ Corbett of Framingham, Massachusetts, Brittany and husband Jonathan Reese of Wilmington, North Carolina, Morgan and husband Nick Warner of Edwards, Colorado; paternal grandmother Constance Mercier of Wilmington, North Carolina; aunts and uncles Donna Biagiotti of Ipswich, Massachusetts, Maureen Pojasek and husband Mark Pojasek of Greensboro, North Carolina, Laurie-Jean Damon and her partner John Carroll of Beverly, Massachusetts, Gail Mercier of Wilmington, North Carolina and many loving cousins, family, and friends.

Tanner was a sweet and loving son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, baseball, hiking in the mountains, surfing, and skateboarding. He had recently started gaining interest in woodworking. He used his special talent to create many things, including renovating a van to follow his dream of traveling cross country. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed, but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him and all the lives he touched.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Pastor Andy Stovall officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.
