Wendell – Elizabeth Louise Hales Carter, age 86, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020, in UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was born on November 29, 1933, a daughter of the late James and Daphne Hales in Wilson County. She is preceded in death by her late husband Mr. William Carter and her son, Leslie Starling.
Elizabeth loved baking cakes for folks, sewing, and working in her beautiful flower beds, but most importantly she loved her family.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with the burial to follow in the Bedford Family Cemetery in Pikeville at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Starling (wife Shelley) of Smithfield, VA, daughter Jo Ann Honeycutt (husband Billy) of Wendell, brother, Jimmy Hales of SC, sister, Pat Renfrow of Zebulon, six grandchildren, and ten great –grandchildren.
Flowers are acceptable but potted plants are preferred.
