Selma – Mennie Eloise Ward Garrell, age 88, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 in UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. Born April 28, 1929 in Columbus County she was a daughter of the late Paul Albert and Ruby Earline Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland H. Garrell; son, Mitchell Garrell; grandson, Brian Justin Cox; and eight siblings. Eloise was a member of Selma Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She was owner/operator of a home day care for 25 years and was loved and adored by the many children in her care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday just prior to the service.
Surviving are her daughter, Saundra Cox of the home; brother, Burmey P. Ward of Whiteville; great grandson, Brian Justin Tyler Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
