SMITHFIELD – Norma Jean Barbour Scott, age 81, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the SECU Hospice House. She was born July 22, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Edward M. and Ada Lou Coats Barbour. A 1954 graduate of Smithfield High School, she worked in the molding department of Fieldcrest and later worked as a salesperson in a local jewelry shop.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Nowell officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. just prior to the funeral service.
Surviving are her husband, of 62 years, Ersel Scott; daughter, Wendy Scott Daughtry and husband Jeff of Durham; sister, Margaret Johnson of Williamsburg, VA and two grandsons, Riley Daughtry and Seth Daughtry both of Durham.
