Steve Patrick Batten, age 64, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
A 1974 graduate of Smith-Selma High School, Steve worked in several trade occupations before retiring on disability from Carolina Builders. In retirement, he enjoyed restoring old automobiles and tractors. A gifted musician, Steve enjoyed playing the guitar and was in a band that frequently performed in area nursing homes.
He was predeceased by his parents, Avery and Hilda Batten and a brother, Danny Avery Batten of Garner, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy Lynn Batten, son Brian Batten of Selma, NC, daughter Stephanie Batten of Selma NC, grandchildren Hunter Walker, Holly Batten and Tucker Batten and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters, Betty Jo Pittman (Mark) of Pine Level, NC and Mahilda Barbee (Mike) of Beaufort, NC.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Monday, October 5th at United Faith Christian Church on Highway 39 North in Selma, NC. Service will begin at 2:00 pm. A graveside service and visitation will follow.
Flowers or donations to the church or to the Batten family will be appreciated.
