Johnston County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Clayton man during a traffic stop on Josephine Road. On May 26th around 12:30am, a patrol deputy turned on his blue lights to stop a car. As the vehicle began to slow and pull over, the driver allegedly tossed an object from the window.
The driver, identified as Jonathan Michael Billings, 35, of Northwest Drive, reportedly told officers the object was a cigarette. Deputies located a small bag of suspected cocaine Billings had allegedly thrown from the vehicle, not a cigarette.
Billings was charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. A magistrate set bail at $7,500.
