Two young men were arrested moments after they had just burglarized a home, even though the crime had not yet been reported.
Saturday afternoon, a Johnston County deputy was on routine patrol in the 1400 block of Bizzell Grove Church Road outside of Selma and spotted a car leave the driveway of a home recklessly then accelerate at a high rate of speed.
The deputy stopped the vehicle for the reckless driving offense and upon further investigation learned the home they had just left from was unoccupied and had just been broken into.
The driver, Brandon Ashby Smith, 23, of S. John Street, Goldsboro and a passenger, Stephen Michael Anderson, 22, of NE Railroad Drive, Pikeville, were arrested.
Both suspects were charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen property, larceny, and possession of a controlled substance. Smith was also charged with reckless driving and a stop sign violation.
Smith was held under a $150,000 bond. Anderson was given a $110,000 bond.
